Community Assistance Center
December 2022 • Helping Neighbors in Need in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody Since 1987
Dear Volunteer,
As we end our 35th year of helping our neighbors in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody, CAC continues to make a measurable impact in the lives of neighbors that need it the most. From getting families through an immediate crisis to helping them get back on their own feet, to going one step further and helping them improve their financial situation so they can thrive: year after year, CAC is where we unite to successfully support families and better our community. Your kindness and concern for others, expressed through your generous support, moves the needle for those in need in an impactful, real way that could not be possible without you.
CAC's success is the success of our community to take care of each other.
CAC by the Numbers
as of November 2022
CAC continues to aid those that need it: food, clothing, and financial assistance remain at the core of our programs. We see the economic landscape changing, and we are changing with it. Our ability to respond to the needs of our community has created amazing returns on our efforts (and your investment) this year:
  • Our thrift store took community donations and clothed our neighbors in need for free while producing $250,000+ of revenue to be used for other CAC programs and operations.
  • We opened a new Career Center to help those in untenable financial situations find a better-paying job to support their families. Through a continuously-growing network of local businesses like Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and State Farm, volunteer Career Advocates, and a partnership with Goodwill of North Georgia, hundreds of jobseekers have improved their skills, learned insider tips and tricks, and made connections to employers that have resulted in new career paths to help them weather the current economic landscape.
  • Our Adult Education program added new computer classes for an ever-changing workplace to outfit students with practical, marketable skills. These courses would normally cost hundreds of dollars, but are offered free of charge thanks to donations and volunteers. XXX adults took advantage of the many classes offered by CAC this year.
Together, we make a significant difference in the lives of others. Families are stronger, children are taken care of, and adults can see the light at the end of the tunnel as they pursue opportunities to improve their financial stability.
As you consider your year-end contributions, we hope you will be inspired by the difference you can make with a gift to CAC.
Adopt-a-Family 2022 was a resounding success!
For the first time in the history of the Adopt-a-Family program, every registered family was adopted by a neighbor. Our community pulled together to help 613 families with 1540 children celebrate the holidays with gifts for the children. Your generosity has made lifelong happy memories possible for so many families: from learning to ride a bike to having a warm coat to play outside, your gifts immediately impact our community's children in a positive, profound way. From all of us at CAC - thank you for making the holidays magical!
